What the Data Shows
Afghanistan’s broad-money supply contracted in each year from 2020 through 2022. The annual decline eased from 6.5% in 2020 to 3.5% in 2021 and 0.7% in 2022. That was a 5.8-percentage-point improvement across the period. The values describe the pace of change in broad money, not the level of the money stock.
