Afghanistan’s labour force contained 7.021 million people in 2020. Of these, 5.717 million were employed and 1.304 million were unemployed, which reconciles exactly to the labour-force total. The implied unemployment share was 18.6% of the labour force. A further 1.245 million people were underemployed, a separate measure that can overlap employment.
