What the Data Shows
Algeria’s 2022–2023 macroeconomic snapshot combines nine policy, monetary, external-balance, growth and inflation indicators with metric-specific periods. The monetary rates and inflation refer to August 2023, the balance-of-payments values cover the first half of 2023, and real GDP growth refers to 2022. Currency in circulation had the fastest monetary growth at 8.09%, compared with 6.46% for M2 and 5.35% for credit to the economy. The overall balance of payments was US$6.114 billion, while real GDP growth was 3.2% and year-on-year inflation was 9.7%.
