What the Data Shows
Seven Australian jurisdictions are ranked by rainfall relative to the 1961–1990 average in 2025. Each value uses the Bureau of Meteorology’s area-average jurisdiction basis. Queensland ranks first at 131% of average, followed by the Northern Territory at 106%. South Australia records the lowest result at 72%, while the Australian Capital Territory is excluded because no directly comparable area-average value is provided.

Evidence: Supports the 2025 state and territory rainfall relative to average values used for every row.
Data notes & caveats
Area-average jurisdiction values are not interchangeable with city-station observations. The Australian Capital Territory is outside this comparison because no directly comparable area-average value is supplied.
Methodology
The ranking uses 2025 area-averaged rainfall as a percentage of the 1961–1990 average for each jurisdiction with a directly comparable Bureau of Meteorology value. The Australian Capital Territory is excluded because the annual state and territory series does not provide an equivalent area-average observation.
Source consistency notes
Every row uses the same Bureau annual statement, 2025 period and stated climate unit.
