What the Data Shows
Capital Governorate had 548,345 residents in Bahrain’s 2020 census, the largest of the four governorates. Northern Governorate followed with 379,637, then Southern with 305,547 and Muharraq with 268,106. Capital Governorate contained 36.5% of the national census population. It was a little more than twice the size of Muharraq Governorate.

Nationality and sex records from the official 2020 census are combined into one total per governorate, then ordered from largest to smallest.
