The comparison uses seasonally adjusted three-month moving-average Labour Force Survey estimates in thousand persons. Toronto ranked first at 292.0 thousand, ahead of Montréal at 173.2 thousand. Rank 15 was the St Catharines–Niagara metro area at 16.3 thousand, making Toronto 17.9 times as large.
