Working-age population changes are compared across Canada’s 41 combined census metropolitan areas from May to June 2026. The 15 largest absolute shifts use seasonally adjusted three-month moving-average Labour Force Survey estimates in thousand persons. Calgary recorded the largest increase at +3.6 thousand, followed by Ottawa–Gatineau at +2.9 thousand. Toronto recorded the largest decrease at −3.2 thousand, while Montréal fell by 2.7 thousand.

Values are seasonally adjusted three-month moving averages from the Labour Force Survey. The comparison uses the combined Ottawa–Gatineau area and excludes its two component rows. Bar lengths show absolute movement; signed labels indicate increases and decreases.
For each combined census metropolitan area, the monthly change equals the June value minus the May value. The ranking retains the 15 largest movements by absolute size from all 41 combined metro areas.
All endpoints use the same Statistics Canada release, May and June 2026 reference periods, unit and metropolitan-area definition.
