What the Data Shows

The share of Chilean women aged 15 to 49 with children was 56.6% in the 2024 census. The comparable census series was 70.7% in 1992, 71.7% in 2002 and 65.6% in 2017. The share fell by 14.1 percentage points from 1992 and by 9.0 points from 2017. This measure records whether women in the specified age range have children and is not the same statistic as the total fertility rate.
