What the Data Shows

Average consumption expenditure was 35,869 yuan per urban resident and 20,259 yuan per rural resident in China in 2025. The national average was 29,476 yuan per person. Urban spending exceeded rural spending by 15,610 yuan, or about 1.77 times. Services accounted for 13,602 yuan per person nationally, equal to 46.1% of total per-capita consumption expenditure.
