Data notes & caveats
Basic research is included within total R&D expenditure; neither growth rates nor spending levels should be summed. The National Bureau of Statistics identifies the annual communiqué figures as preliminary.
Methodology
Compares the two reported year-on-year expenditure growth rates and retains their absolute spending levels as supporting evidence.
Source consistency notes
Both rates and expenditure levels use the same NBS communiqué, national scope, year and current-price basis.
