What the Data Shows
Croatia registered 32,069 live births and 51,080 deaths in 2024. The two event totals come from the same DZS vital-statistics release. Deaths exceeded births by 19,011, or about 1.59 deaths for every birth. The natural decrease means the country’s recent total population growth depends on migration rather than births exceeding deaths.

Data notes & caveats
Natural change covers births minus deaths only. It does not include net migration and therefore does not equal total population change.
Methodology
Uses the national registered live-birth and death totals from one DZS release and verifies natural change by subtraction.
Source consistency notes
All three figures refer to Croatia in calendar year 2024 and come from the same DZS release.
