What the Data Shows

Deployed nuclear warheads are compared by state for January 2025 using SIPRI’s nuclear-forces assessment. The composition uses five state entries whose deployed-warhead counts sum to 3,912 and are expressed as shares of that total. The United States led with 1,770 deployed warheads, or 45.2%, ahead of Russia at 1,718, or 43.9%. The United States and Russia together accounted for 89.2% of deployed warheads in this source frame.
