What the Data Shows
U.S. states are ranked by the percentage increase in industrial electricity prices from 2023 to 2024. The comparison uses final annual average prices in cents per kilowatthour. New York records the fastest increase at 33.5%, from 6.87 to 9.17 cents per kilowatthour. California is second at 15.5%, followed by Wyoming at 12.8%.

Data notes & caveats
Prices are annual averages in cents per kilowatthour. The ranking uses percentage growth rather than the absolute cents-per-kWh increase, and both endpoint prices are retained in the data table. A two-year comparison should not be interpreted as a long-run trend.
Methodology
State prices are drawn from Electric Power Annual 2024. Percentage growth compares each state's final 2024 annual average price with its 2023 value, and only states with a positive change are ranked. Census divisions, the U.S. total and the District of Columbia are excluded. The graphic uses the top 11 states, while the data table retains all 31 eligible states.
Source consistency notes
Every state uses the same U.S. Energy Information Administration annual release, the same 2023 and 2024 endpoints and one common measurement basis, supporting a like-for-like comparison.
