People per USD billionaire worldwide, 2026

Forbes 2026 billionaire-list count divided by current world population estimate.

What the Data Shows

People per USD billionaire compares Forbes’ 2026 billionaire-list count with a current estimate of the total world population. The calculation uses 3,428 Forbes-listed USD billionaires and a denominator of 8.296 billion people. On that basis, there is roughly one USD billionaire for every 2.42 million people worldwide. The figure is a source-labelled snapshot because billionaire counts and live population estimates change over time.

Data notes & caveats

The billionaire count is Forbes' 2026 list count, based on Forbes' estimated net worth threshold of at least US$1 billion. The population denominator is a current UN-based Worldometer estimate and will move over time. Because both inputs are snapshots from different publication systems, the result should be treated as an approximate global ratio, not an official census statistic.

Methodology

The people-per-billionaire ratio divides the world population estimate by the Forbes 2026 World’s Billionaires count. Calculation: 8,295,914,628 people ÷ 3,428 billionaires = 2,420,045 people per billionaire. The per-million equivalent divides 3,428 billionaires by 8,295,914,628 people and multiplies by 1,000,000, giving 0.41 billionaires per million people.

Source consistency notes

The numerator and denominator come from different source families: Forbes supplies the annual billionaire-list count and Worldometer supplies a live UN-based population estimate. The ratio is intentionally source-labelled because billionaire-list membership and world-population estimates are both snapshot measures.
