What the Data Shows
Intentional homicide rates are compared by UNODC world region between 2010 and 2024. The slope chart has two endpoints for each region, measured as victims per 100,000 population. The Americas remained the highest-rate region in 2024 at 14.0 per 100,000, down from 16.8 in 2010. Four of the five regions declined over the period, while Oceania rose slightly from 2.9 to 3.0.
