What the Data Shows
Hydro and marine electricity generation is compared across the four UK countries in 2024. Values are annual gigawatt-hours generated within each country. Scotland leads at 5,252.5 GWh, far ahead of Wales at 371.6 GWh. Northern Ireland records 35.6 GWh, the smallest total.
Data table
Unit: GWh · Period: 2024
| Rank | Entry | Value | Period |

Data notes & caveats
Gigawatt-hours measure the volume of electricity generated during the year. Values refer to generation within each country rather than electricity ultimately consumed there.
Methodology
The ranking selects the 2024 hydro and marine electricity generation value for each UK country from the same official regional electricity release and sorts the four values from highest to lowest.
Source consistency notes
All four rows use the same official source, calendar year, fuel definition and gigawatt-hour unit.
