What the Data Shows
Imports per square kilometre is measured as import value divided by land area for compact import-intensive economies. The data ranks Singapore, Macao, Hong Kong, Malta and Luxembourg using import values and area denominators. Singapore leads at about US$1.08B per km², ahead of Macao at US$705M and Hong Kong at US$652M. For World Bank rows the import value covers goods and services, while Macao uses World Integrated Trade Solution import value for a cleaner public numerator.
