What the Data Shows

Fifteen nations are ranked by the largest absolute working-poverty gender gap in 2023. The comparison retains the Men and Women rates and the signed percentage-point difference for each nation. Benin has the largest gap at 13.6 pp, with Men at 28.1% and Women at 14.5%. Syria ranks second with an absolute gap of 11.5 pp.

Data notes & caveats

The rates are ILOSTAT modelled estimates and may be revised. A positive signed gap means the first group has the higher rate; a negative gap means the second group has the higher rate.

Methodology

For each nation, the two 2023 rates are compared and rank is determined by the absolute percentage-point difference. The signed difference equals Men minus Women.
