Largest life-expectancy gains among US$1T+ nations

World Bank years at birth for nations with 2024 GDP of US$1T+.

What the Data Shows

Life expectancy gains are compared across nations with 2024 GDP of at least US$1 trillion using World Bank values for 2000 and 2024. The slope chart uses eight large-nation rows and measures endpoint years at birth, with the GDP threshold defining the comparison frame. India posted the largest gain at +9.5 years, ahead of Russia at +8.0 years and South Korea at +7.7 years. The threshold makes this an nation-scale trend comparison rather than a global life-expectancy ranking.

Data notes & caveats

Large-nation universe contains 19 WDI nations with 2024 GDP of at least US$1T and non-null life expectancy in both endpoint years.

Methodology

Joined WDI life expectancy values for 2000 and 2024 with WDI 2024 GDP current US$ values; retained nation rows with GDP of US$1T or more.

Source consistency notes

All values use World Bank WDI indicators; the comparison mixes two WDI indicators only to define the large-nation scope.
