What the Data Shows

This comparison ranks the lowest child anaemia prevalence across 36 Indian states and union-territory reporting areas in 2019–21. The percentage is the share of surveyed children aged 6–59 months classified as anaemic. Kerala recorded the lowest prevalence at 39.4%, followed by Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 40.0%. Chandigarh ranked ninth-lowest at 54.6%, a 15.2-percentage-point range from the first value.

Data notes & caveats

The percentages describe surveyed children aged 6–59 months classified as anaemic. Observations without the required current value or both endpoints are excluded; the Dadra and Nagar Haveli observation is identified as estimated where it appears.

Methodology

Child anaemia prevalence was compared across reporting areas for children aged 6–59 months. Ranking pages use the stated survey period, while change pages match identical areas across the 2015–16 and 2019–21 survey rounds before calculating percentage-point movement.
