What the Data Shows
The five National Electricity Market regions are ranked by maximum operational demand in Q4 2025. All values use the same AEMO definition and megawatt basis, measuring peak regional demand rather than annual electricity consumption. New South Wales ranks first at 13,022 MW, followed by Queensland at 10,373 MW. Tasmania records the lowest maximum demand at 1,336 MW, about one-tenth of the New South Wales peak.
