What the Data Shows

New Zealand adults are compared by how often they used cash for everyday purchases during the seven days before the September 2025 survey. The eight response categories form one frequency distribution, with percentages based on weighted survey respondents. The largest group, 36.1%, had not used cash in the previous seven days, while 22.1% used it once and 18.2% used it twice. The categories indicating at least one cash payment sum to 60.5%, and all eight published percentages sum to 99.1% because of rounding.
