What the Data Shows
Northern Ireland’s renewable electricity generation is divided into four source groups for 2024. The groups reconcile to 3,865.3 GWh of renewable generation, so each percentage uses the full renewable total. Wind leads at 70.3%, followed by Bioenergy at 22.3%. Hydro and marine is the smallest group at 0.9%.
Data table

Data notes & caveats
The denominator is renewable generation rather than all electricity generation. Bioenergy, wind, solar and hydro and marine exhaust the renewable total.
Methodology
The 2024 renewable source values are taken from statistics 2a. Hydro natural flow and shoreline wave and tidal are combined into one hydro and marine group before shares are obtained.
Source consistency notes
Every segment uses one DESNZ workbook, the same country and year, gigawatt-hour values and renewable total.
