Outward FDI stock benchmarks compare China, Germany, Japan and India in 2024. The data use UNCTAD outward FDI stock values in current US$ billions, with world outward stock used only for support share metrics. China ranked first at US$3.12T, ahead of Germany at US$2.25T and Japan at US$2.15T. India was fourth at US$260B, while the four nations together represented 17.9% of world outward FDI stock.

Methodology
Rows use the UNCTAD 2024 outward FDI stock values for the four assigned nations. Shares and support metrics use the UNCTAD world outward FDI stock total for the same year where needed.
Source consistency notes
All rows use the same UNCTAD annex source, same 2024 period and same current-US-dollar unit.
