What the Data Shows
This composition shows the sources of Pakistan’s electricity generation in May 2026. Ten generating sources contributed positive output and together sum to total generation of 12,638 GWh. Hydropower was the largest source at 33.3%, followed by coal at 25.2%. Hydropower and coal together supplied 58.5% of generation, while solar contributed 0.9%.

Data notes & caveats
The monthly values are distributed through State Bank of Pakistan EasyData and credited to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority. Later releases may revise them.
Methodology
Each positive generation source is divided by the published May 2026 total. High-speed diesel and mixed generation were zero and are omitted from the graphic without changing the total.
Source consistency notes
Every source uses the same May 2026 release, GWh unit and national generation total.
