What the Data Shows
Portugal’s electricity consumption is divided by the source that supplied it in 2023. The six categories form a complete 100% balance spanning renewable generation, non-renewable domestic generation and net imports. Wind supplied the largest share at 25%, followed by hydropower at 23%. Renewable sources together supplied 61%, while non-renewable generation and net imports supplied the remaining 39%.

Evidence: Supports the 2023 renewable-source, non-renewable-generation and import-balance shares of Portuguese electricity consumption.
Data notes & caveats
This comparison concerns electricity consumption rather than total energy use. Net imports are a balance contribution, not a generation technology.
Methodology
The annual electricity balance preserves four renewable-source shares, non-renewable domestic generation and net imports. The six mutually exclusive contributions reconcile to 100% of consumption.
Source consistency notes
All six shares use the same REN electricity balance, consumption denominator and 2023 period.
