What the Data Shows
Foreign residents with regular status in Portugal are tracked from 2015 through 2024. The series counts people recorded by the national migration authority rather than all foreign-born residents regardless of legal status. The total rose from 388,731 in 2015 to 1,543,697 in 2024. That was an increase of 1,154,966 people and made the 2024 total almost four times the 2015 level.
