What the Data Shows
Russia produced 60.256 quadrillion Btu of primary energy in 2024 and consumed 34.284 quadrillion Btu. Subtracting consumption from production gives a 25.972-quadrillion-Btu surplus. Production was 1.76 times domestic consumption. The comparison uses EIA’s same-year national totals and is an energy-balance benchmark rather than a trade-flow measure.
Data table
Unit: quadrillion Btu · Period: 2024
| Rank | Entry | Value | Period |
|---|
| 1 | Primary energy production | 60.256 | 2024 |
| 2 | Primary energy consumption | 34.284 | 2024 |

Data notes & caveats
The production surplus is not a direct net-export measure. EIA international data may be revised.
Methodology
EIA’s official 2024 total primary-energy production and consumption values are compared. The surplus is production minus consumption, and the multiple is production divided by consumption.
Source consistency notes
All values use the same EIA International Energy Data dataset, period basis and clearly labelled units.
