Russia’s Primary Energy Production Mix, 2024

EIA estimate by source; quadrillion Btu and share of 60.256 quadrillion Btu total, 2024.

What the Data Shows

Russia’s primary energy production is divided among four source groups in 2024. The EIA values sum to 60.256 quadrillion Btu, which is the denominator for the shares. Dry natural gas is the largest source at 24.356 quadrillion Btu, or 40.4% of the total. Petroleum and other liquids account for 36.9%, while coal and nuclear, renewables and other make up the remainder.

Evidence: Supports the four primary-energy production values, their shares and the official 2024 national total.

Data notes & caveats

EIA international energy observations are estimates and may be revised. “Nuclear, renewables and other” is a combined source group and should remain labelled as such.

Methodology

The four EIA production values are divided by the official 2024 national production total. Shares retain the unrounded source values.

Source consistency notes

All four components use one EIA Russia overview, one 2024 production total and the same quadrillion-Btu unit.
