South Korea’s total fertility rate fell from 1.24 children per woman in 2015 to 0.72 in 2023. It rose to 0.75 in 2024, the first annual increase in nine years. The national rate has remained below one child per woman since 2018. The three selected-year observations use the same Statistics Korea source family and unit; the 2024 value is provisional.
