What the Data Shows
Afghanistan’s economy is valued under two different 2024 price and currency systems. Nominal GDP was US$17.78 billion at current market exchange rates. Real GDP at purchasing-power parity was PPP$83.78 billion in constant 2021 international dollars. The PPP value was 4.71 times the nominal value, reflecting valuation differences rather than additional cash output.

Data notes & caveats
Both 2024 values are non-final World Bank observations and may be revised. PPP$ denotes international-dollar purchasing power, not cash denominated in US dollars.
Methodology
The nominal current-US-dollar GDP and constant-2021 purchasing-power GDP values come from World Bank WDI. The 4.71x multiple divides the purchasing-power value by the nominal value; no subtraction is used because the valuation bases differ.
Source consistency notes
Every value uses the stated institutional source family, Afghanistan national scope, 2024, and the labelled unit basis. Signed balances, non-final values, live quotes and mixed valuation bases remain explicit where applicable.
