Dataset/table: Informal employment in total employment by sex and economic activity

Units: percent of employment

Date checked: 2026-07-15

Evidence: Supports the 2014 and 2024 endpoint observations and resulting percentage-point changes for the 11 final reporting economies.

Data notes & caveats

Positive changes mean informal employment was higher at the end of the period; negative changes mean it was lower. ILOSTAT observations can include national estimates or statistical breaks, as indicated by the source.

Methodology

The comparison pairs 2014 and 2024 informal-employment rates for the same eligible reporting economies, calculates the signed percentage-point change and ranks rows by absolute movement.

Source consistency notes

Every endpoint uses the same ILOSTAT indicator, all-persons activity definition, percent-of-employment basis and matched reporting entity in 2014 and 2024.
