What the Data Shows
Annual population change is compared across Latvia’s five statistical regions for 2025. Every region recorded a decline, using the same official usual-residence population method. Riga region had the smallest decrease at 0.3%. Latgale had the steepest decline at 1.8%, a 1.5-percentage-point difference from Riga region.
