What the Data Shows
The share of Portugal’s population living in owner-occupied housing is tracked from 2015 through 2022. The measure is population-based rather than a count of owner households. The share increased from 74.8% in 2015 to 77.8% in 2022. It reached a period high of 78.3% in 2021 after a low of 73.9% in 2019.
