Data notes & caveats

ACS values are survey estimates with 90% margins of error. The ranking contains the 50 states only; District of Columbia is a federal district and Puerto Rico is a territory. The percentage denominator is civilian employed population aged 16 and over, not a total formed by adding the ranked percentages.

Methodology

For each state, numerator components B24080:[3,6,13,16] were divided by the civilian employed population aged 16 and over denominator B24080:[1] and multiplied by 100. Component margins of error were combined by root-sum-square; percentage margins follow the Census published proportion procedure with the plus-term fallback when required.

Source consistency notes

Every row uses the 2024 ACS 1-year product, the same detailed-table concept, the same state geography class and the same percentage definition.
