What the Data Shows
Norway’s municipal wastewater plants are grouped into six treatment categories for 2024. Chemical, biological and combined chemical-biological plants numbered 773 out of 2,743. Their combined share was 28.2%. Mechanical treatment was the largest single category at 53.5%, while direct discharges accounted for 11.3%.
