What the Data Shows

Mombasa port’s container traffic is tracked annually from 2015 to 2024. Values are twenty-foot-equivalent units, or TEU, a standard measure of container capacity; 2024 is provisional. Throughput increased from 1.08 million TEU in 2015 to 2.00 million in 2024, a gain of 928,565 TEU. The 2024 total was 86.3% above 2015 and 23.5% above 2023.
